Handel's Messiah at the University Unitarian
Since some folks at the Yule tree trimming party asked about it, I provide the following information for all and sundry who wish to come have some fun singing the entire Messiah.

G.F. Handel’s Messiah 35th Annual Sing-and-Play Along
University Unitarian Church
6556 35th Avenue NE Seattle
Sunday, Dec 26, 2004 (7:00 PM -- Doors open at 6:00)
General Admission: $10 advance tickets, $12 at the door
Students & Seniors (62+): $8 - prepaid reservations recommended.
Refreshments available at all intermissions

Conducted by Karen P. Thomas, Director of Music, University Unitarian Church

Singers and instrumentalists are invited to participate. Sing the entire oratorio, all choruses and solos! Be sure to bring a vocal score if you have one. (preferred edition is Watkins Shaw published by Novello). Instrumentalists, please bring a music stand.

When jenkitty and I attended last year, they did have vocal scores available for rent or purchase, so if you don’t have a score, you CAN still attend.

jenkitty and I will be there, so we’ll look forward to seeing anyone who happens to show up!

That could get really ugly!

I'm familiar with the sing alongs and... depending on the year the degree of discord can be, errr noteworthy but...

but - play along? owwwwwwwww

We'll most likely be entering Ashland as the Oratorio commences.

Actually, it was quite nice last year. There were enough people who were able to sing on-key that it worked well.

And the musicians were actually quite talented. Yeah there were occasionally muff-ups, but all around, it was fun :)

I wish I lived out there! That sounds wonderful...

at least I get to play it out here this year.. :)
