I have always, always loved the song Moondance by Van Morrison. For the past couple months though, my brain has been saying, y'know, you really need a werewolf parody of that..

Well, my brain finally coughed up the goods (much like a hairball).

I'm not 100% certain it's 'done' yet, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Edit: After a bit of fiddling I came up with a better second line of the couplet that preserved the original internal rhyme.. Happy making :)
Edit the second: I am also perfectly happy with people offering critique where deserved on any lyrics I post here (one person commented privately that they weren't always willing to offer critique unless they knew it was looked for, so I wanted to clarify that).

Oh My God! An Entry!

I’m not known for posting much, but I’m gonna try to occasionally change that :)

This last weekend was ... fabulous, wonderful and all sorts of awesome since I was Conflikt 2. I cannot even find the words to say how much fun I had, seeing old friends and new as well as hearing new songs and old. Being on the concom meant I missed out on a couple of things that I’d wished to get to but such is the life :) I still am running on the con-high.

Rick (our con chair) said that anything which happens twice is a tradition. Apparently I’m starting my own tradition of writing a song at or after each Conflikt. Both of them are just lyrics at this point, and I will be trying to get them to have melody and music at some point (hopefully with the help of some of my friends who are better at it than I am). Since I never posted the one from Conflikt 1, I’ll put it below too followed by the one written this weekend.

Any comments (either compliments or critiques) will be greatfully accepted.

Con Woes, written after Conflikt 1 by JT Traub

I blame cadhla for Oh, Michelle. Then, hsifyppah defended vixyish with Damnit, Seanan. Of course, cadhla couldn't let that lie and fired back with Oh, Brooke. hsifyppah, being herself, had the response Oh, Seanan M... Then came foxipher with Clever Brooke. Someone else, scifantasy, chimed in with Listen Girls aka War Correspondance. Well, all of those had me rolling on the floor as I read them (and not so coincidentally scaring the hell out of my cats). They insisted on having their say.

Oh you folks know the jokes
on both Vixy and on Seanan.
Did you really think that one of them could hatch this plan?
Holy smokes! C'mon blokes,
whatever were you thinking?
You really need to hear and understand.

Now the glowing egg-filled basket was just a minor task, it
was given to Seanan so she'd give it to her friend.
She dressed it up real neat, it was quite the major feat
but she got her friend to eat them and to hatch them in the end.

Yes, eat them all she did, while Seanan watched and hid,
not even once imagining the plot was not her own.
Us cats were watching quiet, we didn't even sigh, it
was yet more prey for us to hunt, these aliens we had grown.

The book we put in Seanan's path, knowing well she'd do the math
And would give it her dupe so that Vix would read the spell
Vixy'd chant and she would sing, and do every little thing
that the evil tome would tell her, and breach the door to hell.

Now you might ask us why, we'd want hell's legions in the sky

There is nothing more offensive, than a sealed shut door.

The killer in the night, who is causing such a fright,
was lured there by our plans on the night of Vixy's date.
Seanan planted deep the seed, played upon young Vixy's need
To have some more adventures, before it got too late.

Now we had hoped that man, would fulfill our evil plan
and clean up all the loose ends our plots had left unfurled
He got Vixy in the corn, leaving Seanan there to mourn
since she's completely spaced that, we cats rule the world.

Sunday Movie: War

The movie for this Sunday (tomorrow) will be War starring Jet Li.

I’ll be going to see it at the Regal Alderwood Stadium 7 (this is the *other* Alderwood Mall cinema, not the big one on the Alderwood mall lot itself, but the one on the street behind it). I’ll be going to the 11:50 AM showing and hope to see some folks there!

I’ve seen this one on various of my friends journals over the past day or so, so..

Usually when I take these Meyers-Briggs type tests, I score high on E on the E/I axis, and high N on the N/S axis, but usually right around the middle of the T/F and J/P axes though I tend to lean more often than not to T and P. What amused me about this time is that I seem to have moved toward the center of the N/S axis as well.

New members of the household

It is my utter pleasure to introduce the two newest members to my house.

Emma is a brown/black tortie who is very very sweet.

Tamara is a black/white tuxedo, who is very very inquisitive and also sweet.

Both of them are busily exploring every nook and cranny of the house. I had tried to keep them in the library room to let them adjust more slowly, but, being cats, while I made dinner, they opened the door to the library and let themselves out into the rest of the house. I figure if they are ready to explore, then I’m not gonna stop them even if I try.

Where: JT's house in Lynnwood/Everett
When: Saturday, July 21, 1PM until we stop (need to be quieter after about 9PM)
Why: to sing and filk of course!

I will have some beverages on hand, and will probably do the 'order some pizza' deal for dinner. If people wish to bring food and or beverages that is fine. Please if you do bring foods, make sure they are labelled to help people who have allergies avoid things that are bad for them.

As of now there are no pets in the house. However, I am anticipating that changing, though I don't know if it will have changed before the house filk. If it does change, there will be 2 cats in the house.

Please RSVP to me via email at jtraub at dragoncat dot net in order to let me know you are planning on showing up, and so I can give you directions. I now live in Lynnwood/Everett so if you had previous directions from me they won't work! Also, Google and the other map companies don't have my new location in their map database yet, so you cannot find me via them! You MUST RSVP to get directions.

Please do bring extra seating if you have it. I have some seating, but more would be helpful.

PSA: Pet food recall

Thanks to technoshaman, omahas, and elfs for pointing this out.

Apparently Menu Foods, one of the largest pet food manufacturer contractors which provides foods for a wide range of brands, including Nutro, Eukanuba, and Iams has issued a recall on a wide selection of their wet/moist food products.

The AP story about this has a link to the Menu Foods site where you can see what brands/product codes have been issued under the recall.

Please pass this along to folks you know with pets so that they are aware.

In Memoriam: Belle

Today, at just after 5 PM, Belle passed away, after being put to sleep at the vet’s office.

She has been slowly becoming sicker over the past couple of weeks, losing weight and muscle mass. Over the past weekend, she began refusing food and the medicine which she needed and told us it was time for us to let her go.

We had our sweet Belle for 14 of her 16 years, after rescuing her from death-row in the Pittsburgh pound. We loved her deeply, and will miss her greatly.

Rest well, sweet cat.

JT (kendaer) has a birthday on June 30. On July 2nd, after the movie (Superman Returns, details will be posted on seattlecats as usual) we’re having a get together at our place. There will be food (grilled meat, fruit, some miscellaneous veggies) and non-alcoholic beverages provided.

If I can find a way to heat the pool, that’ll get set up, too. I’m not holding my breath, though - a web search didn’t turn up anything helpful, and the solar cover is really not sufficient.

The movie will be up in Lynnwood, about 11:30. The get-together will be back at our place in Kirkland afterward, so probably around 2 (depending on how long the movie runs and the time of the actual start). There’s street parking available. For directions to our house, please email tabbifli AT livejournal DOT com.

If you think you’ll make it, please let us know (post, IM, email, call, say in person - whatever!). We’d rather not run out of food :) (Those of you who know me know that’s really not a joke).

Oh, yeah. He’ll be 38.
