This has been all over my friends list over the past day, so, what the heck :) Below are the 259 songs which have been nominated for a Pegasus Award. If you have heard the song put it in Italics. If you have sung along to it in public (or at least the chorus) put it in Underline. If you have sung it (in public, all the words, with people looking at you) put it in Bold If you want to check the lyrics of many of these songs out, check out the Pegasus song page. ( 259 songs below the cutCollapse ) There were actually far more on that list than I thought there would be (which really shouldn't surprise me, but does anyway). Of course, now I want to remedy the ones I haven't even heard (or don't recall hearing, etc) :) Tags: filk, meme, sheep Current Mood: amused

I blame cadhla for Oh, Michelle. Then, hsifyppah defended vixyish with Damnit, Seanan. Of course, cadhla couldn't let that lie and fired back with Oh, Brooke. hsifyppah, being herself, had the response Oh, Seanan M... Then came sheistheweather with Clever Brooke. Someone else, scifantasy, chimed in with Listen Girls aka War Correspondance. Well, all of those had me rolling on the floor as I read them (and not so coincidentally scaring the hell out of my cats). They insisted on having their say. I give you, ( The Cat's ViewCollapse )Tags: cats, filk Current Mood: creative

What: Seattle Area House Filk! Where: JT's house in Lynnwood/Everett When: Saturday, July 21, 1PM until we stop (need to be quieter after about 9PM) Why: to sing and filk of course! I will have some beverages on hand, and will probably do the 'order some pizza' deal for dinner. If people wish to bring food and or beverages that is fine. Please if you do bring foods, make sure they are labelled to help people who have allergies avoid things that are bad for them. As of now there are no pets in the house. However, I am anticipating that changing, though I don't know if it will have changed before the house filk. If it does change, there will be 2 cats in the house.
Please RSVP to me via email at jtraub at dragoncat dot net in order to let me know you are planning on showing up, and so I can give you directions. I now live in Lynnwood/Everett so if you had previous directions from me they won't work! Also, Google and the other map companies don't have my new location in their map database yet, so you cannot find me via them! You MUST RSVP to get directions. Please do bring extra seating if you have it. I have some seating, but more would be helpful. (x-posted to seattlecats and filk) Tags: announcement, filk, housefilk Current Mood: happy

The following is cut/pasted from Melissa’s ( tabbifli) journal. -------------------------------------- JT ( kendaer) has a birthday on June 30. On July 2nd, after the movie (Superman Returns, details will be posted on seattlecats as usual) we’re having a get together at our place. There will be food (grilled meat, fruit, some miscellaneous veggies) and non-alcoholic beverages provided. If I can find a way to heat the pool, that’ll get set up, too. I’m not holding my breath, though - a web search didn’t turn up anything helpful, and the solar cover is really not sufficient. The movie will be up in Lynnwood, about 11:30. The get-together will be back at our place in Kirkland afterward, so probably around 2 (depending on how long the movie runs and the time of the actual start). There’s street parking available. For directions to our house, please email tabbifli AT livejournal DOT com. If you think you’ll make it, please let us know (post, IM, email, call, say in person - whatever!). We’d rather not run out of food :) (Those of you who know me know that’s really not a joke). Oh, yeah. He’ll be 38. Tags: birthday Current Mood: happy Current Music: Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax

(What the heck.. I figure I already know everyone on my list who want's something like this, but.. feel free to surprise me :)) [Yanked from a number of different sources] There's at least 1 person on your LiveJournal that wants to date you or sleep with you. So lets play........ FRIENDS w/BENEFITSThe rules are simple... If you want to date the person who posts this, post a comment saying "I'm yours" If you just want to sleep with the person and stay friends, post a comment that says "I'd hit it" SCARED??? You ONLY live ONCE! THE TWIST IS YOU HAVE TO REPOST THIS!!! & see who replies. All responses will be screened! [NB: I'm also cool with folks saying that they are not interested in any of the above, or supplying other things they might be interested in (dinner? movie? coffee? etc) -- Note, this is more something to satisfy my amusement quotient for the day than to necessarily make a list or anything.]Tags: meme Current Mood: silly Current Music: Hallway chatter

So, tonight was the Duran Duran concert. It definately had some good, some bad, and some just downright bizarre moments. First the good, the headline band itself. Not much to say other than that they rocked, and rocked, and rocked some more. They did a large mixture of old stuff, opening with "Reach up for the Sunshine", and doing a bunch of other songs (5 total I think) off of their new album. They also did Notorious, Save a Prayer, Wild Boys, and a few others, and finally ended with Rio. For all the rest of it, it was a lot of fun, and my right ear still hasn't recovered full bass-response :) Simon, the stage-calisthentics were amusing :) At least you 'dance' better than the guy from the intro band. The bad has to do with the seating we got. While it turned out for the best (we were off to the left side of the stage (if you were facing the stage) and 8 rows back from the floor), it wasn't what we *thought* we were getting for the price we paid and we weren't offered floor seats as it turns out some others were, so it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. In the end we were able to see enough that we enjoyed ourselves however. The food was also not the quality I'd expect from a VIP dinner and was more of a buffet style. And then the bizarre.. the opening act, god bless their pea-pickin' hearts, "I am a Robot", a 'band' out of LA (I think). Notes for the lead 'singer': 1) Take the marbles out of your mouth. It might work for Bob Dylan, but you aren't Bob Dylan. 2) Please use the restroom before coming on stage, alternating between looking constipated and jumping around like a six-year-old who has to pee was distracting. 3) Please take your anti-convulsive meds before coming on stage. 4) It's called lead 'singer' for a reason. Talking, except for a rap song, or yelling, do not constitute singing. Notes for the rest of the band: 1) Please don't take your fashion hints from Bubba and Jim-bob (the drummer had a CAT cap or something similar) 2) Please fire the lead singer and the lyricist.. the rest of you were pretty good musically. anyway, with that, I now go to bed.. I have a long day releasing code tomorrow :) Current Mood: deaf Current Music: The ringing in my ears

I'm posting this just so that it gets a bit more exposure as I have friends who read my journal who don't read those of some of my other friends and I think this is an important topic. I am saddened, much like other people, due to the way the election turned out. I am saddened, much like other people, that the initial reactions I've heard from both sides have been to step up the extremism even further. My wife Melissa ( tabbifli), posted something here that pretty much covers how I feel as well. I think that there needs to be a more moderate choice than either of the two extremes. I've had friends whom I've had to argue with that just because I'm a Democrat by choice doesn't mean I believe in a socialist state or (as the Republicans have painted it), 'tax and spend liberalism'. I believe in government enough to get the jobs that need doing done and no more. I believe in spending what needs to be spent to do those jobs correctly, tempered by a desire for fiscal responsibility. I don't fit either party. I also don't fit any of the third parties because all of them have philosophies that are either too narrow to address the diversity of the world, or rely on human nature being other than what it is. Hopefully there will be enough people who think and feel similarly, that there needs to be a moderate and centrist position, that something can be done over the next while. Please go read what Melissa wrote and contribute your thoughts and comments. Thanks. Current Mood: sad

So, we ( tabbifli, myself and Alex) are having our basement recarpeted. This of course means that we need to get all of our furniture moved out from our basement, get all our old carpet ripped up, and then we want (well need really) to paint/seal the floor with a specific type of paint that will pretty much guarantee to keep mold/mildew/etc out. Most of this can be done ourselves, with the exception of moving all of the big furniture, and that’s where (hopefully) you all come in. This Monday, that being Labor Day, we would like anyone who is willing to come help us move stuff to show up here at 11 AM and help. We’ll provide lunch (in the form of pizza) and drinks. We’ll get stuff moved and (if possible) even start on the carpet rip-up and removal. With a bit of help I think we can get this done in order to have the carpet installers come in sometime around the 15th or the 17th (We need to get the furniture moved out this weekend so we have time to paint/seal the floor and let it dry). So, if you’re willing to help, please reply and let us know you’ll be here! Please only let us know if you are sure you’ll be able to make it so that we can figure out if we’ll have sufficient manpower to get it done. More showing up isn’t so much a problem and will help us get done faster, but if we don’t have sufficient people confirm we’ll probably put this off until after Melissa and my and Alex’s trip to Phoenix at the end of the month to visit her mother. If you cannot make it, that’s fine, but if you can that’ll be muchly appreciated by all of us. If you need direction to our place, let me know in the comments and I will provide them to you, but I’d rather not post them publically (this post is not friends locked). Thanks!
